Commento su II Cronache 34:15
וַיַּ֣עַן חִלְקִיָּ֗הוּ וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙ אֶל־שָׁפָ֣ן הַסּוֹפֵ֔ר סֵ֧פֶר הַתּוֹרָ֛ה מָצָ֖אתִי בְּבֵ֣ית יְהוָ֑ה וַיִּתֵּ֧ן חִלְקִיָּ֛הוּ אֶת־הַסֵּ֖פֶר אֶל־שָׁפָֽן׃
e Hilkiah rispose e disse a Shaphan lo scriba: 'Ho trovato il libro della Legge nella casa dell'Eterno.' E Hilkiah consegnò il libro a Shaphan.
Rashi on II Chronicles
and Hilkiah gave the scroll to Shaphan because it was the scribe’s duty to read everything before the king.
